Memorial
The Beaver County Law Enforcement Memorial is a collaborative effort of the Beaver Valley Chiefs’ of Police Association, Beaver Valley Lodge #4 F.O.P., James M. Naim Memorial Lodge #26, the Sheriff’s Office and the District Attorney’s Office of Beaver County and the Beaver County Commissioners.
In 2002 the project began to take shape with numerous donations from political leaders, local municipalities, the law enforcement community, and hundreds of private citizens. With the funding in place, the Beaver County Commissioners allowed the Memorial to be placed on the southeast corner of the Beaver County Court House property located at the corner of Third & Market Streets.
Groundbreaking commenced on April 4th, 2003 and completion was on May 10th, 2003. The official dedication ceremony was held on May 15th, 2003 and since the official dedication we have held a public memorial service each year at this site.
The purpose of the Memorial Service is to honor those Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Officers’ who lost their lives in the performance of their official duties during National Peace Officers’ Memorial Day. The President and Congress on June 21, 1961, in recognition of the contributions which police officers of America have made to our country, dedicated the day of May 15th as National Peace Officers’ Memorial Day. The legislation goes on to honor those law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the performance of the official duties.
